Easy DIY Wedding Cake Topper

I literally wanted NOTHING to do with getting a Wedding Cake for our Wedding.
The day of our Wedding cake tasting Steve and I got into a car accident with an absolute psychopath on the way home and then I was just even more convinced that a Wedding Cake was not for us!
I know, this sounds strange, but it seemed pointless to spend the additional money when we had a dessert bar included in our Wedding package.
I am personally not a fan of Bride and Grooms making a big "to do" about cutting the cake at their Wedding, but to each their own!
I knew I did not want people watching Steve and I cut the cake, I knew that I did not want some cheesy rendition of "the Bride Cuts the Cake" playing in the background and I knew that I wouldn't have time for a piece of it the day of!

At any rate, a couple of weeks before our Wedding I realized that I had no cake topper for our Wedding Cake!  Instead of panicking, I immediately hit up the craft store for some inspiration.
Here's an easy DIY that you can create for your Wedding Cake:

What you need:

1. Glitter Spray Shimmer
2. Gold Spray Paint (or whatever color you choose)
3. Wooden Anchor
4. A Popsicle Stick
5. Wood Glue

I purchased all of the above at Michael's crafts but you can check your local crafts or hardware store and they should have everything you need!

Directions:

1. Spray the wooden anchor with the spray paint (front and back).
2. Once the anchor dries, glue the Popsicle stick to the back of the anchor.
3.  Once the glue has dried you can spray the glitter spray all over the anchor.
4. Voila! A simple and cheap way to dress up your Wedding Cake!

Most craft and hardware stores have wooden shapes other than anchors too!

Are you making your own Wedding Cake Topper!?

I'd love to hear about it!

  3. Really cute and affordable idea! In stead of doing on monogram you can really choose any symbol associated with the theme of your wedding. I should have done a starfish instead of our initials.

  4. Super cute wedding topper, lady! Love that it's DIY and special to you. I just had flowers on my cake because I didn't want to spend anything extra.

I was in a car accident the two weeks before my wedding, it was AWFUL. Everyone was fine but my car had to be towed and I had a rental and it was miserable.
